Family Worship Service (a)
This service caters to the younger families of the parish and contains “Children’s Ministry” prior to the children going to Kids For Christ (KFC, formerly Sunday School) and Godly Play (for children 3 years and up to KFC age).
Whilst the focus of this service is on families, there are quite a few older members (who are still very young at heart) in the congregation. Worship is a less formal Anglican Communion service with music from a range of sources – including Australian Hymn Book and a variety of other more modern sources. Depending on the musician for the day, the music could be organ, keyboard or guitar. The children rejoin the service at Communion time.
During the last hymn, they are encouraged to be musicians and use percussion instruments. Services are made more interactive for the children school holidays (when KFC and Godly play are not operating).
This contemporary service is presented by data projector onto a screen above the Altar thus avoiding the necessity to use hymn books, although there are always hard copies of the service available for anyone who has difficulty with the screen. Members of the congregation are encouraged to participate in the service by being on the roster to do readings, intercessions and other tasks. The service is followed by a time of fellowship over tea or coffee.
