As our Lenten Study in 2010 the Faith Fellowship Group chose to work through the booklet titled Full of Promise from Sydney Moore Theological College’s book shop Matthias Media. The Study was designed to be an 8 week overview of the Bible and God’s plan for each of us within the framework he had planned.

However each chapter was divided into three sections and as a Group, we agreed that we wanted to delve more deeply into each of the sections, so the study took us twenty four weeks; even longer when you consider that it was interspersed with the occasional Group meal and DVD or an evening or two looking into something else, to break it up a bit. So in fact it took us through the end of the year. David Haase basically guided us through the study, for which we were most grateful.

FFG continued on until Easter 2011 when our Group founder member has a rather nasty stroke, but thankfully is recovering, though this is a long slow process, as it must be. Some other members of FFG also had health issues to deal with that year. Praise be to God that He has got us all through them.

Thankfully David continued to lead FFG through Don Carson’s book The God Who Is There, a most meaningful book which no doubt we recommend should be read by everyone. This took from Easter 2011 until 15th February this year, finishing the book just in time for the start of the parish Lenten Study for 2012.

This study was a bit like Full of Promise, but in a different way, it also covered God’s plan for His people (all we who honour Jesus) and those whom we love and gave back to Him at their baptism. Very deep and meaningful and pulls no punches by the end. Well worth the time spent, even though in some ways and at times it seemed a bit over our heads, we were left in no doubt as to God’s meaning in the Scriptures He has given.

At the end of 2010 Neville and Tina left us to join another study group in the parish, of course we miss them, we valued their time with us, and were grateful to have had them as members for about 5 years or so. Towards the end of 2011 Nigel and Bee relocated to Kuala Lumpur and we miss them also and their input and dedication to FFG during the 3 + years they spent in the parish.

Our thanks also go to Alan & Pam and Brian & Kay for hosting FFG evenings throughout the time and to FFG members generally for staying together and for their devotion to the Lord and desire to learn more, to support each other at all times.

Now we look forward to being part of the parish Lenten study Surprised by Hope, a study prepared by N. Tom Wright the Bishop of Durham.

At present we have 13 active members. We are essentially a Home Group whose members enjoy studying together and we look forward to a good year of even greater understanding in 2012.
