Let me begin by inviting you to come to our Christmas celebrations this year.
We commence the season with the Carols by the Bay at the Wellington Point Reserve (right down at the point itself). This ecumenical event involves 4 of the local area churches and is a real blessing to the community . Carols by the Bay is a great opportunity to bring the whole family, have a picnic dinner in the park and enjoy the Carols.
On Christmas Eve we have our special Christmas Family Worship at St George’s Birkdale. This service will be centred on a service especially prepared for Christmas and includes some of the old favourites. Children involvement will be included and a short DVD featuring Lambchops and the meaning of the Christmas Lamb of God
Our traditional Christmas midnight service is also popular. We commence with a couple of the favourite Christmas Carols and sing additional Carols during the Communion service. With a full church we feel as though the singing will lift the roof. Families with teenagers enjoy this traditional worship as the young people can go home afterwards and sleep in until it is time to prepare for Christmas lunch.
Many regard Christmas day as Christmas and they prefer to come at 8am to start Christmas with a joyful celebration.
What ever suits your family we encourage you to come along sing carols, hear once again the timeless stories and be immersed in the love of God.
As Christmas Day falls on a Sunday this year, there will be one service at 8:00am. at both St George’s Church , Thorne Road, Birkdale and St James’ Station Street, Wellington Point.
Whichever service you may choose to attend, may it be a time of great joy and reflection during your Christmas observance.
