Dawn Williams

Dawn Williams

The family moved down to Ormiston in the late 1960’s, became part of the Anglican Parish of Cleveland, attended St Andrews at Ormiston and joined The Friends of St Andrews.

Dawn moved around Queensland as an Enrolled Nurse, working at the PA Hospital Brisbane, Winton, Beaudesert. In 1972 she moved to Esk, where she lived until her retirement in 1997.

Dawn moved back home with her Mum to help look after her Dad when he was very sick.

Her Mum and Dad were both attending St James’ at Wellington Point, so she started going to church there with her Mum. Both Dawn and her Mother joined the Guild where Dawn took on the Secretary position from Nancy Pinner who had held the position for years and felt like a break.

It was like living back in Esk again where she was Secretary to the Hospital Auxiliary; fundraising with a great group of women for new equipment for the hospital, and out-fitting accommodation for a Palliative Care Unit for family members to stay.

In Esk it was a Chicken and Champagne Lunch at the races as a fundraiser, down at Wellington Point it was the Melbourne Cup luncheon, Cake stalls catering for functions etcetera.

In 2006 Dawn joined the Parish Council as the Guild member and was invited to be a Warden in 2008.

Dawn is also a Pastoral Carer for St James’; a position she enjoys.
