‘The Breakfast Bar’

Plating up food

Regular Men’s breakfasts are held throughout the year. Many parishioners attend and bring friends along. The main aim of the breakfasts is to allow fellowship and, along with guest speakers, inform participants on issues relevant to men. Breakfasts are usually at 7.30am on a Saturday morning, except for the up and coming “Stockman’s Supper” on March 28, 2009.

Previous speakers at the breakfasts include…

  • SAILS (Sailing Adventures in Life Skills) program for adolescents. Captain Russell McClue informed the audience about the historical establishment of SAILS on the Gold Coast and Ian Carr explained the local Bayside Group and its activities.
  • Alan Monaghan who spoke on Rugby League in the Wynnum Manly area during the 1960s – a very popular topic. Alan was assisted by Lionel Morgan, the first aboriginal Rugby League player.

This session proved to be so popular that question time was curbed after running overtime. All participants who attended thoroughly enjoyed the information given on this vital topic.

Breakfasts planned for 2009 include:

  • The Billiluna Saga (The creation of the last manmade stock route between Alice Springs and Billiluna Station in W.A.). This will not be a breakfast. It will be a Stockman’s Supper. Guest speaker: Mr Jim Richardson – March 28 at 6.30pm

Men’s breakfasts are open to all so keep these dates free. Both 2009 events have created much interest already.
